Who Can Come?

 

How would you like to attend an Optimist Youth Summer Camp? 

 

For the first time ever, the Evening Optimist Club of Albuquerque has joined the YMCA of New Mexico to provide a one week camping experience for deserving 6th graders. Camp Shaver is located in the Jemez Mountains.

 

Campers must be nominated by a school counselor or administrator or by an Optimist Club member.

 

Potential campers must complete an application form.

 

If you are a 6th grader who is…

 

  • Interested in attending a YMCA Overnight Summer Camp

  • Free to attend from July 3 - July 9, 2016,

  • Able to contibute $25 toward camp.

While the Optimist part of Optimist Summer Camp is entirely run by volunteers, your donations are very welcome to help pay for the camp, meals, tools, and camp staff.

 

The YMCA is making its resources available to the Optimist Summer camp at a large discount, but costs still exist.  

 

Please help. Make your TAX DEDUCTIBLE check donations payable to the Evening Optimist Club of Albuquerque.

Optimist Summer Camp

TWO forms are needed for each student.  The Student Application Form, filled out by our future camper, and the School Counselor/Administrator NOMINATION Form, filled out by the adult nominating the student.  CLICK on the turquoise buttons below for the forms.

How does this work?

 

Local Optimist clubs and private donors provide the funds to run the camp. The camp staff are YMCA trained.

 

The activities focus on belonging, leadership skills, and character building.

 

The camp is scheduled for July 3-9, 2016.
