Northwest Optimist Club - #19131

Projects

Chartered September 30, 1976.  The Northwest Optimist Club was sponsored the OC of Albuquerque.  

 

Currently, we meet at 10 a.m. on the THIRD Wednesday of each month at Corky's house.

We are recalibrating this year and looking for additional activities.  Here are our current projects:

 

  • Oratorical Scholarship Contest

  • Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar

  • Special Olympics

  • Bike Safety Rodeo with COC

  • The Izzy Juarez 'Keep Up the Good Work' Awards with COC

TOP - COC's club President Suzann Owings recognizes Israel "Izzy" Juarez at the first annual 'Super Citizen' Award named for Izzy Juarez, NWOC's long-time member and community role model. NWOC now partners with the Marie Hughes Elementary School in our quarterly Super Citizen Awards.

 

MIDDLE - Club President Corky and Secretary Robert (past club president) work with HOBY-NM volunteers at the HOBY-NM Leadership Seminar.

 

BOTTOM Left - The Motto Brothers receive from Club President Corky and Club Secretary Robert Martinez the President's Citation for their OUTSTANDING contributions to the community and NWOC. 

 

BOTTOM Right - 2017's Bike Safety Rodeo at the Rotary Park Pavilion in Bernalillo was wet, cold and very well attended by the Optimist volunteers.  NWOC now partners with the Marie Hughes Elementary School in our annual Bike Safety events.
