The 2019 Leadership seminar will be held June 7-9 at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM.
NEW NEWS - ANYONE may register for the Leadership Seminar. The Ambassador need not be sent by a school or cooperating organization.
BACKSTORY: The Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar is a brilliant opportunity for OUTSTANDING young people. Conducted over a single weekend for high school sophomores, the Seminar expands the participants' horizons in myriad ways.
HOBY is has a Cooperating Organization agreement with Optimist International. Starting in 2011 NWOC led the all volunteer team to reintroduce the HOBY Leadership Seminar to New Mexico for our high school sophomores. In 2013, as volunteers Jan McDermott and her husband filmmaker Tom McAfee came to Albuquerque from the Bay Area to document HOBY's return to New Mexico.
In 2015, the Northwest Optimist Club's Foundation proudly donated over $20,000 to HOBY-NM to help them keep up their OUTSTANDING efforts.
